Last week, I hosted my very first candle-making workshop inside the Wax Crescent Studio + Boutique here in Longmont. Having the opportunity to share creativity, community, and the joy of scent with such incredible humans truly filled my cup. ✨

There’s something magical about watching people connect with fragrance on a deeper level — learning how each note plays its part, and then layering them together into a scent that feels entirely personal. Guiding my students through this process reminded me of why I fell in love with candle-making in the first place.

A Journey Through Scent

Scent is storytelling. In our two-hour workshop, we explore how fragrance is built through three layers:

• Top Notes — the first impression, light and bright, catching your attention.

• Heart Notes — the center of the fragrance, adding depth and emotion.

• Base Notes — the lingering finish that grounds the scent and makes it memorable.

Participants begin by smelling our curated selection of seasonal and signature fragrances, identifying scent families, and understanding how these notes interact. From there, they experiment, blend, and create a custom fragrance that’s completely their own.

From Blend to Pour

Once each student has crafted their fragrance, they hand-pour two soy candles in our signature jars. This hands-on experience is more than just candle-making — it’s a sensory journey. Every step is intentional: from the first inhale to the final pour.

For those joining us from outside Longmont, I ship your finished candles to you at no extra cost — so the experience continues in your home when you light your creation for the first time.
